This is the Smoke Chair by Moooi, a Dutch design company that counts Marcel Wanders as one of its founding members.
At first glance, this chair may seem like just another Baroque-style offerings but would you believe in order to achieve the dark wood, they actually set the chair on fire?!
Me either at first, but it's true; the wood is burnt and then covered in an epoxy to preserve it.
No while I don't recommend everyone start setting fire to their furniture, I am quite taken with this chair.
